Oh, I just love Sundays! Sundays are for relaxing, having fun and spending it with your loved ones. And Berlin is definitely not a place, where you will be bored on a Sunday. It is quite the opposite! You are spoilt for choice. In summer I love to spend my Sundays in the Mauerpark. But where to escape during the colder months of the year? Lately, I visited the Berlin Village Market for the first time after a friend had recommended it to me.
The Berlin Village Market is located near Warschauer Straße in Friedrichshain. There you’ll find a huge ground which offers it’s visitors restaurants, clubs, bars and much more. “Neue Heimat” (which means new home) is also situated there. This is the place, where the Berlin Village Market is hosted from 12 to 10 pm. You can check their website to find out about their other events.
The event on Sundays combines street food from around the world (similar to the street food market in Kreuzberg), music, art and drinks. What more do you need on a Sunday?
After exploring the outside and the inside area of the market, it was time for a serious question: What do I want to eat? The assortment of food was great! Just to name of few: Polish pirogis, Mexican tacos and oriental specialties. The variety of street food offered changes weekly, so that you will always discover something new. We decided to get an Asian taco and a Latin vegetarian taco (who doesn’t love guacamole, right?).
If you are up for some dessert, your appetite will be appeased just as well. During our visit I spotted waffles and some yummy-looking cakes, too.
The Berlin Village Market is an awesome place to spend a Sunday with your friends while enjoying some delicious food, listening to good music and relaxing in a cool (and typical for Berlin) ambience.
